A monumental, fairly stylized figure looms before an urban industrial landscape marked by the sharp outlines of factory buildings, topped by two red chimneys with smoke rising from them. We are in the vein of Sassu’s work theme, in the last phase of his distancing from the themes treated by Futurism, but, although the subject could lead one to make a facile juxtaposition with the work of Mario Sironi, there is not a true similarity of manner between the two. The painting manifests instead numerous points of contact with the research being carried out in those years by his friend Giandante X, both in the use of color and in his choice of figure to represent.
